ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to investigate the enrollment of pupils of Eldama Ravine nursery school in Kolbatek district, Kenya. The specific objectives of the study were to determine the enrollment of pupils in regards to, introduction of free primary education, poverty, lack of government regulation, lack of a standardized curriculum and poor health and nutrition. The methods used for data collection were questionnaires to the public respondents and interviews with the teachers. The findings revealed the enrollment of pupils in nursery ios decreasing and the reasons are the introduction of free primary education, poverty, lack of government regulation, lack of a standardized curriculum and poor health and nutrition. The study recommended that the government should make sure they supervise the nursery schools to make sure that the children's welfare is catered for. To ensure quality in nursery education the curriculum should be standardized and the feelings of the children put into consideration and the government should make sure that all nursery schools both private and public follow the curriculum.
